Here we are again with the reports of books that I considered interesting and once again very different books from each other. We start with an Italian author, then move on to a reprint of an unfinished novel, then another well-known local writer, and finally, still in our house, a children's book. The Miracles of Val Morel, by Dino Buzzati The Miracles of Val MorelForty years after his death, the Mondadori Oscars pay homage to Dino Buzzati, one of the noblest voices of Italian literature and journalism, by re-proposing "The Miracles of Val Morel", a book published in 1971 and never reprinted again.
A singular work, an expression of the Special Data author's infinite imagination, accompanied by beautiful color images and with a preface by Indro Montanelli and an afterword by Lorenzo Viganò. The last book published by Buzzati during his lifetime, “The miracles of Val Morel” combines Buzzati's two passions, writing and painting, and is a sort of imaginary repertoire of ex-votos dedicated to Saint Rita of Cascia in the town of Val Morel , in the province of Belluno, all painted by the author himself and collected in the volume together with the story of the author's adventures to find the elusive sanctuary of Santa Rita which will ultimately turn out to be a simple boulder, on which the devotees post ex-votos .
The Miracles of Val Morel, by Dino Buzzati Mondadori Publisher 110 pages January 2012 The Mystery of Edwin Drood by Charles Dickens The Mystery of Edwin Drood“The most mysterious story that has ever been written” is contained in Charles Dickens' last novel, which death prevented him from finishing. The young Edwin Drood, close to marrying Rosa, disappears under mysterious circumstances. Uncle Jasper, also in love with the girl, begins the investigation. Who killed Edwin Drood? And was he really murdered? A story full of suspense, exoticism and ambiguous characters, which involve the reader in a mystery that remains unsolved, challenging him to find that ending that never arrived.
